svn archive ability

I need a suggestion. I am wanting to use svn for a site that has alot of data to it. roughly 3000 documents .4 to .9 mb average 4mb largest 1.6gb roughly average working data. Is there a way to archive/remove old data to lessen the size of the repository? Im also wanting to make shure it doesnt tax the server due to size of data. 6 months of data is all we are likely to need to keep available with the ability to recover from archive old data if nessasary.

Thanks
Kendrick
