subversion repository on cPanel VPS

I want to install svn server on my VPS, which has the following specifications:
Apache 1.3
Kernel 2.4 no NPTL
cPanel/WHM
When I try to create the repository using "svnamin create /PATH/TO/REOS" I'm getting the error:

svn: Berkeley DB error
svn: Berkeley DB error while creating environment for filesystem tester/db:
Function not implemented

I already checked the FAQ:
http://subversion.tigris.org/faq.html#redhat-db

I tried to contact my hosting providers to update the kernel but they can't as it's required to be running a specific version with Virtuozzo.
I heard that they had some clients who was able to use their VPS as svn server and host their repository there..

Please help if you have any ideas or solutions to create my repository without updating the kernel.

Thanks
