Svnversion change in behavior between 1.1.4 and 1.2.0

From: Peter D. Stout <pds_at_edgedynamics.com>

The output of svnversion for a working copy that contains svn:external
links is different using the 1.1.4 release and 1.2.0 release on Cygwin.
If I run "svn update" on my working copy and then run the 1.1.4 version on
my working copy it will report for example, 7752M. If I run the 1.2.0
version on the same working copy it reports 76:7752M, where 76 happens to
be the HEAD revision of our much newer documentation repository.

Is this change intentional? If so, could svnversion be enhanced to
support the --ignore-externals option that was added to the
checkout/update/status/export commands?

                                Thanks in advance,

                                        -Peter
