As a hardware engineer, I can tell you that the above statement is the
truth. All of the FPGA tools have GUIs and despite repeated complaints,
the tool vendors still don't think that hardware engineers need tools
that are source control friendly. The defaults are usually to make
copies of sources, and dump the whole mess, with source, temporary files
and build results all in the same directory.
