what means "REPORT request failed on <repo>"

  i just checked out the latest repo of "trac" (which worked nicely),
and then:

$ svn st -u
svn: REPORT request failed on 'http://svn.edgewall.com/repos/trac/trunk'
svn: The requested report is unknown.

several attempts and i get the same response each time. thoughts?
