Thanks for the response. I will try the commit-time first and I think
that will be ok for us.

However if not, how do I go about using/applying the
meta-data-versioning patch ?

Will I need to apply it to a source tree and then build the sources
myself, or is there a (lazy) binary I can get hold of ?

I also just found a thread discussing my problem (sorry should have read
that first) and it just seems to fizzle out. Is there any chance of the
meta-data-versioning patch becoming part of the main trunk ?
