There are some discussions about this topic in the list archives.

Why do you need the original timestamps?

If
- you don't need the exact timestamp but only approximately,
- you don't want to patch and
- you want to start immediately,

Subversion can set the timestamp to the commit time at
checkout/update. You have to add/commit each file separately instead
of import.

I have a simple perl script to "import" a tree this way (see
attachment).
