Cannot get shared lock on db.lock on Fedora Core 4 and SVN 1.2

Hi,

Further to my previous note regarding transfering repos from Win XP to
Linux and migrating from BDB on 1.1.4 to FSFS on 1.2 I have made some
progress (thanks to the ppl who responded previously btw). The repos
were dumped from XP/1.1.4/BDB and loaded in FC4/1.2/FSFS without any
apparent problem. I have configured Apache to access the repos and
here I have hit a brick wall.

Apache fails when trying to list the repo contents or checking out with
a http URL. The error is:

(20014)Error string not specified yet: Can't get shared lock on file
'/usr/local/svn/repos/reponame/locks/db.lock': Resource temporarily
unavailable

Permissions wise I have set up a svn user and group. The svn user owns
the tree of svn and below with rw perms. The svn group has rw perms on
the same tree. The apache user (which the httpd deamon runs under) is
also a member of the svn group.

I have removed all access restrictions to the repos in the httpd.conf
settings.

I have also tried setting apache up to be in the root group, giving
a+rwx to the svn tree, chown the group and owner to the apache user etc
- all to no avail.

No joy...

I did notice that httpd.conf was pointing to the mod_svn_dav and other
modules in module/modulename but the rpms were deploying into
/usr/lib/httpd/modules/modulename so I have updated httpd.conf
accordingly. I am now pretty stuck. I have searched the list but not
found anything that has got me any further.

Is there a way of checked the version of svn I am running just so I
know I am not going mad and running 1.1.4 or something stupid.

I am sure it must be something stupid on my part and I am now at the
stage where I am happy for my stupidity to be discussed in open :-)

Many thanks in advance for your help!

Rgds

Jeremy
