On recent BDB usage issues

I have read about all posts on " I lost 7 bdb repositories yesterday! <http://subversion.tigris.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=users&msgNo=35037> " and I am
a little scared about the issues regarding BDB peculiar usage made by SVN.
But, even if so much has been said, I think that a clear word from SVN/BDB
guru should come.
The question is quite simple: is there ***any*** configuration to safely run
Subversion with BDB ?
For what I have read, allowing access only thru svnserve is not safe.
I think that the same applies to Apache.
Should I conclude that the only safe way is to have a single user access
without hooks accessing the repository ?
