There are also other scenarios where commit-preprocessing and
checkout-postprocessing would be nice. If you e.g. store your
text data mostly as .txt.gz (which is transparently and reliably
handled be e.g. less and vi) it would still be nice to have
svn work on the uncompressed form to take advantage of the text
format.
