Karl is far from an angry guy, if you had been around here for more than
30 seconds you would know that. Subversion probably has the most cordial
and on-topic discourse of any open source project out there. It is one of
the greatest attributes of this project and Karl Fogel is one of the
number one reasons for that.
This is simply a topic that has come up before and I imagine he was trying
to respond to your assertions that this was somehow easy. Also, rather
than discourage the idea altogether, he flat out stated that if you or
anyone else wants to do the proper design work and implement the feature
under the guidance of the Subversion devs, that it would stand a good
chance of being accepted.
What is the problem? Just because this is a feature you want it is more
important than the ones that are currently being worked on? If it isn't
implemented immediately the devs are unresponsive?
Ask yourself this, if you were one of the devs, would you want to do this
feature now? I wouldn't. Luckily for you, Karl and the other devs don't
feel that way.
Mark
