Just as an additional hint, because we ran into that kind of error message yesterday, too, while using "svn://...".
The times of all machines accessing the svn server and the server itself need to be in sync. That was the problem here.
Sorry if this is too obvious. Of course it's a good thing to have the correct times on all machines.
