It actually turns out that setting to "application/visio" doesn't fix it. It still shows "page cannot be displayed" when opening in IE. I tried a different browser (firefox), but Firefox will only let you save it, opening isn't an option. Any other ideas?

FYI: He asked the same question on the Subversion user list and he got an answer which might be useful for others, too.
