doing a checkout/commit...

hi...

i have a linux/fedora box... i can successfullt get to the svn repository
using tortoise. i'm trying to do a simple checkout/commit and i get the
following issue:

svn checkout http://foo.com/athena trunk
  this checks out the files from the root/top of the athena project

i do a
svn commit -m 'test' trunk

and i get the following errs...
==>svn: Failed to find label 'NULL' for URL '/athena/trunk'

i'm in the dir /home/test/athena.

any ideas as to what's going on, or what i did wrong...

i'm simply trying to test the checkout/commit on the linus box.. the svn
repository is on the same machine. apache is running, etc...
