Just a shot in the dark but is your Windows client running Google
desktop? If so, turn off Google DT indexing during checkout. We saw a
similar problem and turning off Google desktop indexing reduced CO times
by about 80%...

Our network admin shows the switch port to which my machine is attached
as 100-full with zero collisions.
