import get's stuck

From: Philipp Meier <philHatesSpam_at_gmx.net>

I have problems with importing.
I do "svn import <myFiles> <URL>".
The size of all files I need to import is about 400MB in about 1100 files.

1) Mostly the import get's stucked somewhere in the middle of its work.
2) Then I have to "svnadmin recover" my repo.
3) And try again.

If I am lucky, the import runs through. But most of the time "I am not
lucky...".
How can this be?

My Workaround is to only import less then 100 files per time. But this is
very annoying...

I use Apache/WebDAV/http (and/or https) on my linux server and TortoiseSVN
(or the svn command line tool) on Windows XP.

What can I do to solve this problem? My co-workers are suspicious about
subversion because of this bug - and I would like to work with SVN in our
projects.

Any help welcome

Regards
Phil
