svn update with post-commit hook

When i use the require authentication in my http.conf in order to control
access to the subversion repository i can' use the post-commit script to run
an svn update <working copy>. It is requiring a password for the user
apache to to access the repository. I still want people to have to login in
order to access the repo but i need to have the web server autoupdated on a
commit.
 
I'm a Subversion Newb.
Can someone help me out. Thanx
