don't get me wrong, i completely agree. and if bc had explained this to
eric with the same degree of civility that you just did, the mailing
list would be a much more pleasant place.

as far as the deluge of people asking for binaries at every release, i
would first suggest that the site owner state even more prominently on
the web pages exactly what you said, and to go on to say that posts to
the mailing list won't help. for those windows users who can't wait,
maybe the page could suggest installing Cygwin so that they could
compile more easily. as a bonus they'd get a bunch of other
indispensable tools as well.
