Note that when I tried to reproduce using that script, I was using
latest development Subversion, corresponding roughly to Subversion
1.2.0-rc1, which has many bugfixes relative to 1.1.4.

So the "fix" for this problem might simply be for the Debian package
to upgrade to Subversion 1.2.0 when available.
