max,
i understand what it's telling me... what i don't know is what libs
subversion depends on, or what else i need to install to bring everything up
to the sam rev level...
that's what i'm trying to determine!!!
if i knew everything SVN needed, i could delete/remove it... however,
without this information, it's difficult to know exactly what it's finding.
thanks
bruce

What would give you that idea? It's telling you it found parts of a release
candidate version of subversion installed on your machine. Your machine has
apparently had subversion (a release candidate, even) installed on it by
compilation from source. You need to find and dispose of leftover bits of
that old installation.
Max.
