First of all, sorry to post something off-topic, but I couldn't find a way to
contact the developers directly (without posting to devel).
I used to dislike your project since I read that you want "To take over the CVS
user base.", but I've changed my view today.
I've just browsed your website after reading the story about Linux moving away
from BitKeeper, and I think these pages
- http://subversion.tigris.org/subversion-linus.html
- http://subversion.tigris.org/bitmover-svn.html
are really good. I mean, I've never seen websites commenting with such a
strict, impartial style.
Just a few quotes:
- While Subversion has been well-received by many open source projects, that
doesn't mean it's right for every project.
I'm not even that humble.
- We have no complaints about BitKeeper as a piece of software
That's a positive attitude.
- Of course, BitMover employees are free to download and install Subversion any
time, and we encourage them to do so.
That's cool ;)
Compare that to Larry McVoy's language (from a thread in lkml):
- The Subversion folks would like nothing better than to displace BK.
- Yes, we're forcing you to choose between competing with us or using BK as a
way of contributing to the kernel.
- they are actively trying to destroy our company.
- That's not going to change, scream all you want. Those are the rules.
Although I've never used Subversion before (I'm just a newbie...), I think you
guys are very great! Keep up the good work (and attitude!) :)
