Yes, those are exactly the limitations.

It seems quite strange that you'd want to "nest" repositories on actual
disk. Each repository is a database, and trying to physically nest
these things sounds like a real mess. You can accomplish exactly the
same effect by having multiple project 'root' directories within a
single repository. It works great.
