I think Ben meant that as a metric of meaningful activity, the revision
number is unreliable.

Some people commit after every little change, some commit at the end of
the day when they have accomplished something significant, etc. A bump
in the rev number could mean that a spelling error was corrected in a
comment, or an entire new feature was added.
