php bindings?

Is anyone working on PHP bindings? The issue tracker turned up no hits
and the last email that mentioned it in the user/dev archive was from
2002 or something equally old. A quick google search turned up an
equal amount of nothing.

I took a brief look at the swig stuff but it seems more complex than
the time I have at the moment.
