Thoughts on using Subversion for Zope/Plone?

We're implementing a Zope/Plone development environment at work. What's
the latest consensus for implementing Subversion for version control?
Is it even worth the bother? Zope wants to keep everything in its own
database unless you specify it to use external files. I saw some ideas
on keeping Python code in Subversion and I read that Ben was even
thinking about using the XML file.

Thoughts? Recommendations?
