Remove without delete

I want to remove some subdirectories in a website from version control, but
I don't want to lose the content there. These are mostly dynamic content
cache areas. What Subversion command would I need to issue to accomplish
that? For instance, how I would I remove /var/www/html/cache from revision
control but not delete the directory or its content?
