I don't think anyone meant to be disrespectful. I think you got the
reaction you got because your original mail had a "sky is falling"
tone... when in fact, you were stating everyday obvious things that are
true of any program. I fear that the heightened emotion in the email
("critical flaw!") prompted equally emotional responses. :-/
