I implore whoever is in charge of the docs to make no such change. The
above "explanation" made my head hurt.

Having been confused by the branching issue for the last couple of years in
PVCS and CVS, working with Subversion has allowed me to see the issue much
more clearly. Even picking up the Pragmatic book about CVS only reinforced
what the svn book said.

While your statement may be true for one new user, it most certainly was not
true for this one.
