Well, between the both of you, you nailed it! Thanks! :-)

For the archives:

You need to have all of your path information in a script that is executed early on in the login process. .bashrc is a good place for this. If you put it in .profile (as I did) then logging in from the terminal will look/work as expected, logging in via ssh will ALSO work as expected, but running svn+ssh won't.

Once again, thanks to everyone that helped out, everything is working as expected now.
