"svn log" on removed files and folder

Hi,

recently I have found that "svn log" command does not work
on removed files and folders.
Hmm, looks strange, because SVN should track version history for directories.
But, even CVS (which does not track version history for directories) can show
log for files in removed directories.

Is there any way to do such thing in SVN without restoring files/folders ?
