Commit problem, probably caused by Spanish version of XP?

svn: MERGE request failed on '/XXXXXX/trunk'
svn: Safe data:
"Could not read status line: Se ha forzado la interrupci"
... was followed by non-ASCII byte 243.

Non-ASCII character detected (see above), and unable to convert to/from
UTF-8

The character most likely followed by the interrupci is the o with an
accent. Has subversion problems with my Spanish XP version (that somehow
gives the "Se ha forzado la interrupci....." message ? ).

>svn --version
svn, version 1.1.1 (r11581)
    compiled Oct 23 2004, 14:47:47

Also: Tortoise:

TortoiseSVN 1.1.2, Build 2205, UNICODE
Subversion 1.1.2,

gives up.

Any ideas?
