The front page of svn's site lists improvements over CVS. So does
chapter 1 in the svn book.

Chapter 2 in the book criticizes the 'all locking' philosophy, and
explains the copy-merge philosophy with lots of diagrams. Good stuff
to show to pointy-haired bosses.
