Changing the dateformat in $Date: $

Hello list!

I'm using subversion on a latex-document, and the date is displayed
prominently on the front page of that document. Unfortunatly, the layout
of that page doesn't allow for such a long date-string as Subversion
inserts by default.

I was wondering if it's possible to change the format of this string in
some way, but I can't seem to find any information about it in the
documentation.

I also see this question was asked on this list before, but that post
was from july of last year, so hopefully the answer has changed..?

Any help appreciated! :)
