Supposedly it did but I haven't verified the timings.

I do think that you should update both your client and your server to see the speedup; upgrading should be painless though and you should be able to update your client and servers independantly (and order shouldn't matter either).

I didn't experience any problem mixing 1.0.x clients / servers and 1.1.x clients / servers.

I haven't updated to 1.1 yet, but one operation where svn is *much*
slower in 1.07 is "svn blame" (corresponding to "cvs annotate"). On a
project that's sitting at revision 32000 or so, it just isn't worth
waiting for that to complete: I suspect it's doing a linear search
through all the revisions.

I've seen somewhere that there were plans to improve this; did it
happen in 1.1?
