IIS (once again)

I started playing around and researching alternatives to the old donkey
VSS about 4 years ago, and back then my company decided to develop our
own very scaled down source controller that plugs in directly to our
support system and runs over the web using microsoft ASP and Internet
Explorer technology to save data to the local users machine without
having to install a source client. This worked for the size of our
company and especially with the fact that we had developers all around
the world that had to access the source library behind different
firewalls, but scaling became o problem towards the end of 2003. We also
made the decision that developing a source controller is not our primary
business and therefore would rather switch to an external product that
will solve the problem for us. The task of finding a solution for our
growing needs was assigned to me. My initail thought was to become a
"born-again" CSV user but found Subversion instead and the business
group agreed to use an open source solution. We have been running
Subversion since Jan 2004 using apache on a windows 2003 server, with no
problems and thanks to solutions like ankhsvn we have an almost fully
intergrated development environment.

I remember that when I installed subversion that I was a bit
disappointed about the fact that there was only a plugin for apache and
not for IIS. One of my biggest problems back then was running IIS and
apache on the same server, nightmares that I don't want to repeat again.

I have also noticed that numerous people are requesting an IIS WebDAV
ASAPI plugin. I would be a huge support of this move, cause althought
apache is a very stable http server a lot companies main source code is
running under iis and it is an absolute maintance nightmare of running 2
http servers on the same machine. I also think that having an IIS plugin
available would open a market for subversion beyound apache.

I am willing in to develop an IIS WebDAV plugin, but this can become a
task to great for the a single developer alone, so I am posting this
message in the hope that there is any hackers out there that are also
willing to contribute to an open source webdav plugin for iis

Regards

Gideon
