Splitting a folder into a different repository

Hi,

Say I have a VS.NET solution which is in SVN repository 1. Now, I've
discovered that one of the solution's projects can be split off and
made into a general support library. Now, all our support libraries
(i.e. general-purpose stuff) is in SVN repository 2. Is it possible to
cut off the existing project folder, move it and check it in to
repository 2, and add a svn:externals entry to the solution workspace
directory, while maintaining history on the project? I'm thinking that
it might be an svnadmin dump/load dance, but I'd rather avoid that as
much as possible.

Suggestions welcome.
