Upgrading....

Maybe a silly question...
I see that there are certain steps to be taken when upgrading between
different versions...

If I am simply recompiling the current verison (1.1.1) to support apache
(wasnt compiled originally) is there anything I need to do? Will the old
repositories still be available after the recompile?
