As has already been mentioned, there is svnversion and (for Windows
only) SubWCRev. Svnversion does more extensive checks for mixed
revisions, and SubWCRev allows keyword substitution and setting exit
status according to whether the WC is modified. If Svnversion could be
extended to include these features as well, we would have a
multi-platform solution and could throw away SubWCRev.
