i would imagine that this kind of ability should suffice to
maintain/capture/keep the associated date/timestamp for a given file.
although it would require some additional work on the part of the user.

however, if someone did create/implement this kind of solution, it would
potentially be useful to others...

Each file and directory has a set of properties—keys and their values—
associated with it. You can
