Importing/Adding files _and_ permission/ownership attributes?

Hi,

is it possible to have not only the file name/content checked it but
additionally also the current permission and ownership of the file?

I'm import from unix and checking out to a unix filesystem and would
like to retain the permission/ownership of files (given that the user
I'm checking out has the proper permission to do so in the first place).
