Lock-Modify-Unlock model for binary files supported?

Our project consists of C source files and binary files. It is essential
that two persons do not work on the same binary file at the same time since,
of course, these files are not supported by the Copy-Modify-Merge model of
Subversion.
Is it possible to use Lock-Modify-Unlock model for some files in subversion?
