Socket error 11001

The response of TortoiseSVN on a initial import:

PROPFIND request failed on '/repos/repository'
PROPFIND of '/repos/repository': Could not resolve hostname 'site.net': Socket error 11001 (http://site.net)

Anybody got any idea what causes this error?

Additional information:
- It is on a Windows 98 machine
- It is the newest '98 version of TortoiseSVN
- Socket error 11001 is a resolving problem
- It is possible to go to the repository with a web browser!

P.S. I wasn't able to check if the shell client worked from that location, but my guess is that this error hasn't got much to do with the TortoiseSVN wrapping.
