svn: Commit failed (details follow), but no details

I installed subversion 1.1rc1 and imported modules from cvs.
I then checked out a module in a working directory.
Now when I try to commit changed and added files I get the following message:

Transmitting file data ...................svn: Commit failed (details follow):

However no details are provided.

What could be the reason, and what can I do about it.
