You want to put a closed source project into a Subversion repository? That's
fine. Well, I'm pretty confident it is, because Subversion is in Debian and
the Debian folks pay a lot of attention that there are no restrictions on how
you use the included software.

What does 'having a closed source project' have to do with 'needing a newer
BDB'? And what does all that have to do with Subversion?
