python API beginner

Dear All,

i downloaded a python API package for subversion, copied the svn, and
svnlib to the python23/lib/site-packages folder.
i take the python check out example from the manual, but it was not
working for me.
at the client.svn_client_checkout function the numbers of the parameters
was wrong.

but i would like to ask in general where can i find documentation,
examples about the python API?
