Eric,

Thanks for pointing me in that direction, will start with my personal rtfm task
immediately...

It certainly _is_ relevant for the extremely helpful and patient participants @ svn-users,
because they regularly have to deal with various encoding related probs. Eventually, it's
been someone on that list who pointed me in the right direction (missing libiconv), so I'd
like to see this go on their record in case anybody else is trying to get the platform
NetBSD/Apache/SVN to work.

I don't see how this is on topic for svn-users, but OK. If you
