No, the folks editing the book were just editors, not computer haX0rs.
That's why O'Reilly hires outside people to do "technical reviews" of
books. After the technical reviews are done, the book is edited just
like any other book. AFAIK, the editors are experts in spelling,
grammar, wording, clarity, and so on. They're not computer experts.
