I did, and it didn't help. The problem was obviously not that it wasn't
finding the libraries, but failed to *run* the test program against it
without the LD_RUN_PATH because the location is not covered by the
standard library path. In my opinion it's a shortcoming of the autoconf
setup, but don't ask me how to fix it. It's been too long since I have
done any substantial autoconf stuff.
