I really should have said "AVOIDED" instead of "SOLVED".

Do you think re-creating the repositories with the newer version will *really*
solve the problem?

My original thought was perhaps rebuilding from source might fix things, on
the grounds that the rpm I downloaded might have been linked to mismatched
library levels.
