You don't need any packages at all. Just unpack the source tarball,
./configure && make. At a minimum, you'll end up with just a client
that's capable of speaking http:// and svn://. Read the INSTALL file in
the tarball if you want more than that. Also, if you click the
'download' link on the Subversion website, there are bunches of binary
packages available for different OSes.
